Fashion: it is the key to our evolution.

Well that year went fast.

Work got busy and I forgot to update, then I was sorting my garage out in the Spring, sat outside in the Summer and played on the Xbox in the Autumn. However things have happened and the way the old website worked it wasn’t very easy to just post things as it happened. Until now…. CUE MUSIC!

Booshambles has always been a playground, I use it to learn how to make websites then use elements from it to make sites that earn money. WordPress basically killed the local web design industry because people can just set this up for free and do everything themselves. Although web design isn’t my main source of income I still want to do it and get paid so this is the next step. Learning how to configure WordPress to make it look like the old bespoke Booshambles is a great way to do that.

I was suprised how much WordPress and Booshambles were alike, my admin panel was very basic but had most of the functionality. Design wise it’s completely different as I had one page basically showing about 90% of the site, you just clicked links to change what was being shown. Learning where properties for some of the basic design choices has been more difficult than anything really.

Then I spent the next 3 weeks (probably a good 40 hours) republishing all the old posts, scrapbooks and other content. I glanced through some of the posts and left behind old film, tv and game news as there really isn’t any need to keep them. Also a few journal updates which were basically me saying I was going to update are gone too. I had the opportunity to go back through the scrapbook and reupload all the images that I could find at higher res. The Brick Wall being a prime example, I got the scanner out and scanned in every page of the Brick Booklets as well as uploading higher quality scans of all the posters and artcards. The new site has also allowed me to upload content thought lost, I found some old files including audio and animated gifs!

I was still using twitter and have gone through old tweets looking for things worthy of an article then expanding upon it. Mostly it was “Tonights film is” which I have now used to replace reviews, the idea is I will post using my Nexus 7 which film I’m watching tonight. Then when I have time go back and edit the post and add in a score and comments. I watch a lot of films so it’s a great way to quickly build up a mini review section (already got 23!). Plus on repeat viewings I will go back and maybe add in things I have noticed a second time around.

I have had the Quad UK Brick Poster for years and have been meaning to get it properly framed for ages. When Looper came out in the Cinema I went on ebay and snapped up a Quad UK Cinema Poster for that too. Finally 9 months later I found a website that sells reusable poster frames, their actual use is business adverts like the ones you see in banks. They just screw into the walls and you snap the silver bezel around the poster, they also come with a plastic film to place on top. £70 quid in total but the frames are now a permanent feature of the room.

Who the fuck are you Paul Zennon!?

Who the fuck are you Paul Zenon!?

In the past we have had a shout out from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a retweet by Simon Pegg and even had some of the content featured on Director Rian Johnson’s Website. This for me is up there with the best of them. Basically a Facebook friend called Chris Cook has THE Paul Zenon on his friends list, when me and Chris Medcalf were chatting over Xbox I had the slightly drunken idea of joining in the conversation. It went along the lines of “I should say who the fuck are you Paul Zenon”, it was hysterical and you really had to be there but I managed to preserve the chat. We knew from watching him on TV in the 90’s who he was, it was just great fun. I later explained and apologised because I didn’t want him to put a gypsy curse on me.

This update is getting crazy hella big and some of the “news” can wait, it will just end up in the next Journal update.

Time is slipping through my fingers

I have been far too busy to update, gone are the days when i was so lazy i could just put this off. Illness, more Illness, Sales, looking like a perv and more BRICK. I can’t remember when listing the weirdness started in this section but it must make you want to read more right?

Well looking back at my nearly 2 month old update i don’t feel so guilty. Usually i start by saying how sorry i am or how lazy i was, but since the first week of January (when i planned on updating) it’s been none stop action. That’s a bit of an exaggeration but suddenly a lot of website work came my way and i even had to build a computer.

Looking back at the last post i also said i was going to see Nightmare Before Christmas. On the day before it was on i got the FLU which went straight on to my Asthma riddled lungs and i ended up spending Monday night controlling my breathing all through the night. I was awake a record breaking 36 hours (for me anyway). This week i also got a weird cold which made my throat so dry if i talked i would just cough constantly. So i hardly said a word for 2 days. I never realised how much i used to talk to myself out loud until this week.

The only good thing about a recession is SALES! except the DFS sale that company can just go into liquidation right now. “D is for DON’T CARE HOW MANY TIMES WE PUT THIS ADVERT ON NO ONE WANTS ANOTHER FUCKING UGLY RED SOFA WHICH WOULDN’T FIT IN ANYONE’S LIVING ROOMS”… and relax.

Play.com sales is where it is at, i ended up getting Mirrors Edge, Assassins Creed, Pure, G.R.A.W. 2, Oblivion and Splinter Cell D.A for a tenner each! Today i just bought a black play and charge kit and a black controller for £29.99. Oddly though out of all those games i have been hooked on Gears of War 2, especially the new multiplayer achievements. It has being very frustrating and oddly rewarding but i have managed to get them all.

There wasn’t really much to talk about in January i just bought lots of thing cheap and worked. Although i got another poster to add to my Brick Wall. I found out it is the Scandinavian DVD Cover but a poster. How odd.

Last night I went to Battle of the Bands at the St. Thomas Church. I went to see Troy’s band, it was full of kids and there was me in the back of the room feeling like one the parents. It was a good night though with some questionable winners, i will say no more.

There is also some potentially good news which i will talk about in the next update as i don’t know how it is going to pan out. Next update would be March but i will try to get a rant or mini review up soon.

Hey big spender!

Covered in wine Jack had no choice but to run from the cops.

Two Sundays in a row where i feel a bit ropey. Is it age or Strongbow. Apologies, expensive months to come and too much good stuff coming up. What is a boy to do?

First off I need to post an apology… for my harsh comments in last months post.

Sam said “if I go anywhere it will be Toast” he never turned up… git.

I later found out he was on the other side of the dance floor and we never saw him. Now he has gone to London and will probably never see him again. I will put this in my regrets folder. It’s an imaginary thing don’t worry, I don’t have room for a real one GAHYUCK LOLZA!

Enough with that crap and onto the actual update. I am now 25, nose hair, a receding hairline and death await. On the bright side i will never get id’d again. Also I like being older it’s good I don’t know why. Didn’t do anything really on the actual day as no one had any money so we had a nice Chinese Meal and played some pool. I won a drunk bet of something like £24.98 wining a game of pool for money was really hard, too much pressure.

Presents included some questionable wrapping paper, a pack of cards, a game I refused to play, 2100 Microsoft Points and some money. It was a good birthday and started off my holiday nicely.

Didn’t really do too much on my hols as I was working through some of it doing website work. However I went bowling and saw a surprisingly good comedy called “Step Brothers”. Went to the torchlight rented some great films, played some great games and generally had a good time.

All my brick stuff arrived and now has its own scrapbook section. The German poster is great I could get an unfolded one for £30 quid but the £1.50 version is good enough. Also i went on the Directors forum and showed off the collection and Rian (The Director of Brick) replied.

“Wow, nice stuff – and I’ve only seen about half of it. Wink.” – Rian Johnson

Is he taking the piss? I don’t know at any rate it’s nice to go on there and get a response. He actually answers questions about the film it’s good stuff.

The rest of the year is looking to be awesome entertainment wise, with new seasons of TV shows and a shed load of games coming out i can’t wait.

I have pre-ordered far too much and it will all be coming out at the end of October and early November. I also have to spend a couple of hundred quid on fillings on the 31st of October too, and i have my tax return to do. I need to try get some more website work together if i want to have some money to pay bills.

I pre ordered the following:

Fable 2 (24th October)
Fallout 3 (31st October)
Gears of War 2 (7th November)
Left 4 Dead (21st November)

Typing that out i just realised that i will be getting a new game every week for 3 weeks, argh!!!!

I got £5 off vouchers for them all and hopefully 11% quidco on each one so i have saved about £30 so one of those games is only really costing me £5. They are all huge games too so i doubt they would drop in price for a while anyway.

I also bought 2 more seasons of Frasier for 13.99 each, only 10 and 11 to get. There is a 1-11 boxset coming out before xmas but i got these all fairly cheap. I also got Stalker: Clear Sky, it’s the only game that i wanted to be delayed because what they released was unplayable, and in certain situations still is. It’s an excellent game though and recommend it to anyone, just wait until it has a few more patches under its belt before you get it.

I also got Castle Crashers, another bug ridden but excellent game. I am going through it again and trying to get all my stuff back intime for the patch. Playing any form of multiplayer wipes your stuff.

Well that is about it. Dexter and Heroes both start this month so i will be gutted waiting every week for the next episode. 24 TV Movie in November too.

It is all so exciting…

Until next time. BYE

(I would just like to let you know it took nearly 3 hours to do this little update because the entire news page needed redesigning just so i could put that scrapbook picture in the post. Just bad coding as usual)

Done and Done.

Going once, Going Twice, Sold to me!

Going once, Going Twice, Sold to me!

Well i am surprised ebay is actually usable, i managed to win my first ever bid and it arrived today. My Brick UK Quad Poster is here.

The Poster is a US Cinema Poster although it seems to have been used in the UK. There is a UK Poster which is better than this but they are even more rare. I picked it up for £13.50, the most i have ever spent on a poster but it was definitely worth it as the only other ones for sale were £64.99!

The poster measures 30″x40″ and it just looks great, its actually made my wall look a bit bigger now the other posters that were there have been taken down.

So i have the 2 Disc Special Edition with the Play.com exclusive Postcards (which you can see just below the right hand side of the poster). I have the soundtrack and now the cinema poster. All i need now is Joseph Gordon-Levitt to move into my shed.
